Winter Hair Care

I've only got 26min left here at the library so thought I'd pop in here ☺
I posted awhile back about hair care and once again I'm dealing with the issue of dried out winter hair .
I've discovered two new ideas for my hair and working on making some nice hair tonics to sell in the next month .
I've been reading about silica and hair & bought some horsetail to make myself a hair rinse tea .
I also read in the book Wild & Weedy Apothecary about apple cider . I forgot all about how cider vinegar can make your hair shine up !
Ok now if you are like me and cannot stand the smell of vinegar , well we can add some essential oil to the mix . let it sit with different herbs and just have to put up with the stink for awhile ☺
So for my hair type I added to my normal olive oil hair oil rosemary & lavender & a bit of horse tail . a few T of cider vinegar & some essential oil of lavender .
I put this on some evenings and just brush it through my hair .
Another hair tonic I have made and use during the day is that with glycerin & rose water . My mother told me how in winter her mother would use this mix on their chapped hands during the winter months . So I read up on glycerin .It helps attract moisture to the skin . So why not the hair ? Yes it does !
I do the same thing I make the mixture of rose water and gyclerin and I put on a few capfuls in the morning and brush through ,my hair . It smells wonderful ! Yes my hair is also silky soft ☺
Now I do not have oily hair but my dh does . So I'm not sure what he'd use as adding oil would not be the best for him .
I'm thinking how about the cider mixed with rose or orange blossom water ? It could still be soaked in herbs then strained as I do with my oil . Maybe a few tsp of glycerin wouldn't hurt either as moisture is not the same as oil .
Sorry no pics as we are on the library computer still but I assure you I still have my long greying hair & it is shiny and not dry ☺

Hey All

I wanted to pop in just to say howdy to everyone ! I have been receiving so many beautiful heartfelt comments ☺ Thanks so much .
We have been without a computer now for over a month I think . Mother board fried and with it being our birthday season and dsnow 15yo he is working on his exam for swim instructor & the next course the brinze cross is so pricey we just need to watch our funds right now .
I like this time of yr. having no computer and quite often it has happened to work out that way for us .
I find with the snow & winter activities it brings us closer as a family ☺
I've been baking , making cornucopias and even figured out a great Turkish delight recipe . dh & the boys have been into watching little house dvds the last 2 weeks ☺
We had a great drive out to our fav forest to take the dogs running . This forest is my fav but the winter is the most beautiful time . The snow is so comforting  . It embraces us and is a very warm type of silence . This forest is full of pine mostly and so there is much room to walk between trees. The dogs love snow of course and go leaps & bounds a running at high speed . My ds9 our little Adventure boy & I like to lie down in the deep snow and look way up at the sky which is viewed thru the pines bows holding heaps of snow . We have fun going under low branches and shaking them so plops of snow fall down upon our heads . Another fun thing is we crawl under a tree with very low branches and it is like a little house underneath but no one can see you from the outside because of the low branches .We laugh and trick our two doggies jack & lizzie they don't know where we are ☺
Ok the biggest tip I can give to anyone on how to come to love winter again .... dress exactly how your Mum would dress you come winter time as a kid . Yep , thats it . Long johns or tights under your pants . undershirts , long sleeved shirts , especially plaid flannel ones . two pairs of socks and ski pants ! bundle up ! non of this wearing sneakers in the snow crap ! try and buy parkas that are down , wool & even have fur around the hood makes the best protection against the wind . I prefer mitts instead of gloves and like to buy the old leather ones we call garbage mitts or the fishermen wore . Then have a pair of knitted wool mitts inside of those leather ones . Wool insoles are the best for inside boots and moccasins . If you can get extra long scarfs and do the complete head wrap just like Mum used to do ;-)
I wish I could post pictures ! I can't even copy & paste links with the library computers but most of all I miss posting pics .
My gal pals and I had a great fullmoon gathering last month . We made our wreaths & even had the first winter fire . We are planning this full moon to include our children as it falls on Yule & we always have  a family Yule / Solstice party . Not sure if dh will get an ice rink done this yr but for certain we will have a winter solstice fire & hoping to have some fresh elk to cook as a special treat .
Thanks again everyone for all the wonderful support . I'm decorating my fence tomorrow with mini stockings I have sewn & thinking of Joyce at October Farm . I miss all my bloggy buddies ☺
However like I said I'm being inspired by some wonderful books by Tasha Tudor & Maria Trapp getting all crafty in the home .
I've been listening to a cd I got from the library titled Song Up in Her Head it is kinda like southern gospel with lots of mandolin etc.
Hope You All are keeping warm as well & finding time with Loved ones ☺
Lots of love
 Blessed Be
